Dr. Roudi Roy is a Professor of Child Development and Family Studies in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. Over the past five years, her innovative research has focused on the experiences of multiracial families, student-parents, and marginalized populations.
Dr. Lauren Heidbrink is an anthropologist and Professor of human development. She is author of Migrant Youth, Transnational Families, and the State: Care and Contested Interests (University of Pennsylvania Press 2014), an ethnography on unaccompanied child migration and detention in the United States.
Dr. Kimberly R. Kelly is Professor and Chair of the Department of Human Development at 好色先生. Dr. Kelly is a scholar, leader, and educator committed to advancing equity and inclusive excellence in higher education. Her research focuses on narrative and family informal learning, amplifying families鈥 everyday interactions that promote young children鈥檚 science learning.
Adebimpe 鈥淏impe鈥 Akinwalere is a graduate student in the Master of Public Health program at California State University, Long Beach (好色先生) and a Medical Doctor from Nigeria. She has dedicated her academic and professional career to advancing public health research, addressing health disparities, and improving health outcomes.
Dr. Deborah Fraser is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at 好色先生. She completed her BSc. In Cellular and Molecular Pathology at the University of Bristol (Bristol, England) and a PhD in molecular medicine at the University of Wales College of Medicine (Cardiff, Wales). Dr. Fraser鈥檚 research interests are in the field of immunology, and her lab strives to understand the molecular mechanisms of inflammatory diseases.
Dr. Bengt Allen joined the Department of Biological Sciences in 2007 after earning a BA from Pomona College, MS from San Diego State University, and PhD from Stony Brook University. Dr. Allen was hired to teach General Ecology, Marine Biology, and Marine Community Ecology and has done so regularly since.

Dr. Rashida Crutchfield, a professor in the School of Social Work at Cal State Long Beach, is credited with significantly changing universities鈥 understanding of how housing and food insecurity create barriers to students鈥 success.
Hired in 2003 in the Department of Biological Sciences, Dr. Young committed early on to make her classroom and research laboratory student-centered. While she was recognized for her effective and innovative teaching and mentoring, Young strove for student success beyond students she worked with directly by creating learning communities for colleagues.
Throughout her 42-year tenure at California State University, Long Beach, Dr. Loucine Huckabay has been a strong supporter and advocate for all students, especially those from historically underserved backgrounds. She is well known for mentoring students struggling academically, or those whose home or work situations interfere with their academic success.
