Christine Whitcraft

Christine Whitcraft, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Director of the Environmental Science and Policy Program at California State University, Long Beach.

Whitcraft鈥檚 areas of expertise include wetland ecology, human effects on coastal ecosystems and climate change. Her wetlands field lab studies "all things wetlands" from microbes to fish. They are interested in how human activities influence the structure and function of coastal wetlands, particularly food webs. Their projects include work on the impacts of non-native and invasive species, altered hydrology, climate change, and restoration in fields sites from Baja to San Francisco.

Whitcraft holds a doctorate in oceanography from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. She completed her post-doctoral work at San Francisco State University and the San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
